Hi there! My name is Kaylah Kapkeo Bhimani and I am Kapkeo Creative.
I am a graphic designer, illustrator, and photographer from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I studied Graphic Design at VCAD Vancouver in 2020 and decided to launch my own business for visual media and design the same year. Since I started I have been able to work on a different variety of projects that have helped me explore various mediums of design. I have developed a unique style within my work and learned many tools that have encouraged me to create as both a designer and as an artist.
What’s in the name?
Kapkeo, pronounced [CAP-KAE-OH] It is my given middle name and my mother’s birth name. It’s Lao ກາບ (kap) meaning "bark, sprout, flower petal", also the name for a kind of poetry, and ແກ້ວ (keo) meaning "gem, jewel". On my mother’s side, her family came here as refugees from Southeast Asia and experienced many tribulations of integrating into a new Western culture, my name is reminiscent of my family and the opportunities I have been given being born in Canada. Having the freedom to keep our culture and heritage close to our hearts. It also reminds me of how unique I am and my place in this life. I chose to embrace it as the name for my creative brand and identity. Kapkeo Creative.
